MEXICO, THE SHADOW
I am
interested in analyze, explore and criticize the representation of
Mexico/Mexican culture in mainstream movies. This would include looking trough
the Mexican/American culture, the political issues, film industry (Hollywood
movies), and the Chicano-bandit-ignorant stereotype +.
I will
expose the irresponsibility of media, film makers/industry and US government.
The influence of Mexican culture ignored by them; the size of Mexican
population/language in their country.
For
this project, I looked into Hollywood movies and tried to find examples that
support this false image of Mexico/Mexicans. I hade to prove that perception of
a culture created by filmmakers is highly influential to the over view of the
global audiences.
A lot
of these clips are taken from movies directly. It is not to plagiarize them but
I tried to juxtapose these raw footages to show how powerful the media can be.
